Hubert Mazur, Agnieszka Rosa - About the need for training archivists in education


Educational activity is present in Polish archives for decades. But the educational function of archives is not fully mature and established. Many mistakes are still made, educational forms do not meet teaching requirements. University archival training almost completely omits equipping graduate students with competences in educational activity. Education in archives needs a spur, various stimulation, and a number of system changes. One of them is isolating a circle of archival educators through integration of archivists involved in this kind of archival activity and creating a platform that would serve to exchange experiences and knowledge of conducted teaching activities and building up a web of cooperation. With the aim of doing that, the Forum of Archival Educators was established, an informal, citizen and open organization, that is supposed to be a platform of exchanging experiences, a place of meeting, offering integration and support, as well as a form of additional professional training for archivists engaged in education.
