It's a very specialized board, but planing is planing. You cannot jump it, it doesn't jibe very well, and it's not the most fun board in the world to ride. But if you have the skills, it is simply wonderful to be planing over a glassy surface while all the other sailors sit on the beach and COMplain. ...check out the large yellow/blue sail in the (middle) picture. That's the 9.5 Retro that makes the MPB plane in 4 knots! Roger
On the above photo Mk.1V MPB is planing in 4 knots of True Wind (in 1992). Its hull speed was just over 8 knots. It had pulled the Apparent Wind around 160 degrees, tacking downwind on a dead run. Notice the glassy water and the reflection of the sail in the water. The latest Mk.X MPB's are as follows: Weight = 5/7Kg's depending on application, Length = 3200mm, Width = 600mm, Volume = 158 Litres. Rick
