Toruń lies in north-central Poland, Kuiavia-Pomerania province. The town is located at
the bank of the Vistula River, about 200 km from Warszawa, Gdańsk, Łódź and Poznań.
Field Workshop will be realized in the vicinity of Toruń (maximum distance 150 km) in the
Toruń Basin, Chełmno Lakeland, Brodnica Lakeland, Kuiavia Glacial Plateau and Warta
Valley regions.
Toruń has about 200 000 inhabitants. It is a historical town, with medieval (red-brick gothic) old
town city center, famous as the birth place of Nicolaus Copernicus (astronomer) and famous as a
place of legendary gingerbread production.
The climate in the area is of temperate humid type. Mean annual temperature is 7.9 C and
precipitation is 520 mm. In September mean temperature is 13.1 C and precipitation is 48 mm.
