MAGDALENA RABIZO-BIREK
She was born in 1964 in Kamieńsk. She studied history of culture at the University of Łódź. Since 1989 she has been working at higher education facilities. Currently she is associate

professor in the Department of 20 Century Polish Literature at the University of Rzeszów. She is occupied with critique of literature and art. She is the author of prefaces to catalogues (i.e. The Cathedral in Rzeszów) and biographical and problematic entries concerning artistic life in The Rzeszów Encyclopaedia. She is the head editor of the literary and artistic quarterly magazine "Fraza". She has published two books: Reading Paintings. Texts on art of the period 1991-1996 (1998) and Between Myth and History. The works of Włodzimierz Odojewski
(2002). She was national curate of the Polish team at the
5th
International Triennale of Painting of the Carpathian Euro region "The Silver Quadrangle" in 2003 in Przemyśl, and she was a jury member at the competition. By invitation of the Modern Art Gallery in Przemyśl she prepared a concept for the author's exhibition from the "Artefacts part 3" series titled Endlessly About Man, which at the turn of 2003 was presented in six galleries of southeastern Poland (Przemyśl, Sandomierz, Krosno, Gorlice, Tarnów and Rzeszów). She participated in the 4th Polish Painting Forum Lesko 2004 Ecce homo; she was coauthor of its concept and co-editor of Notebook no. 5 (together with Kamilla Nielek-Zawadzka). She was awarded a prize by the Władysław and Nella Turzański Foundation (Toronto) for 2004. She lives in Rzeszów.
