JANUSZ KACZMARSKI
He was born in 1931 in Warsaw, and studied painting at the FAA in Warsaw (1949-1950) under the direction of Stanisław Szczepański, in the Fine Arts Academy in Leningrad (1950-1951) and in the Fine Arts Institute in Kiev (1951-1956). It was there, in the workshop of Aleksiej Szownunienko, that he obtained his diploma with distinction. In the years 1962-1976, he participated in exhibitions by the Group of Realist Painters. In the years 1964-1970, he collaborated with the "Artistic Review" ("Przegląd Artystyczny") where he published critiques on individual and environment exhibitions. In the years 19721973 he was the editor of the "Polish Art Review" a quarterly magazine in English on Polish art. Since 1972, he was elected President of the Polish Association of Artists' Head Office several times. At the AIAP Congress of 1975, he was elected for the Executive Committee. In 1977, he started leading painting workshops at universities and academies in Dresden, Wrocław, Toruń, and Olsztyn.
